I've had this fabric for aaaaages, finially found something I wanted to do with it. If I remember correctly it's some sort of jacquard. I really wish I had brought more if it now, it was one of those once off things I saw for cheap, which I brought a metre of simply because it was there and I liked the pattern.
I didn't have work on Wednesday, so I ended up making this Uchikake for Saran. Uchikake are those heavy padded over kimono usually worn by brides at a wedding.
It is padded(I used some thin padding that came from the quilting section at Spotlight....speaking of the quilting section, they had some other kind of awesome japanese print fabrics I also kind of want to buy and make more doll kimono with), and fully lined with red satin. I also made the other kimono and obi, but that was ages ago. Saran is a 70cm doll, so it's about that long.
Still waiting for doll's wig, so he has a hat and nonna scarf to cover the baldness(I only got him a couple of weeks ago
), but I still wanted to post pics of the uchikake since I spent enought time making it, and I am really pleased with how it turned out. Lol though now, I am making a christmas costume, to fit it with the Christmas bomb that's currently hit my loungeroom(seriously...there's glitter and ribbon everywhere at the moment, we put up out christmas tree yesterday~) It will look less bomblike and more festive after I finish^~
